Cognitive behavioral therapy or mindfulness therapy may be effective when working with general populations; however, they may not be effective for older adults who have developed depression in response to life-events that come with age, such as a child moving out, a career ending, or increasing health issues. A fairly new model of therapy, life review therapy, has been studied by Jojanneke Korte of the University of Twente’s Department of Health Psychology and Technology in The Netherlands.
