If you think about it, how much money do you really need to be happy? Now matter how much we have, most of us want more. It has long been said that money can’t buy happiness, but it turns out there is a connection between income and happiness. Obviously, people with a comfortable living standard are happier than people living in poverty, but it’s also true that people who surpass that comfortable living standard don’t buy additional happiness. In the United States, the “comfortable standard” is about $75,000. Higher household incomes were associated with better moods, but the beneficial effects tapered off entirely after the $75,000 mark.
