Nearly 125 years ago, William James wrote a short article titled “Habit,” in which he stated that our behavioral patterns shape who we are and what we often refer to as character and personality. He refers to ‘habit loops” and how these repeated actions dominate our lives and help to perpetuate our current state for better or worse. James contends that our daily habits are what keep us in the social strata into which we are born or the professions which we have chosen.
