A recent study at the University of California, Berkeley has shown that some stress is actually beneficial. According to Daniela Kaufer, associate professor of integrative biology at UC Berkeley, short periods of intense stress can actually improve your mental performance. Researchers have concluded that brief stressful events can improve your alertness. Stressful events also appear to help with memory function although not immediately after the event has taken place.
