Self-Esteem Comes From Within

The theory posited in this article is that self-esteem is very sensitive to influence and that if we grew up alone on a deserted island, we would have a very healthy self-esteem.  If something bad happened, rather than blame ourselves, we would accept the situation.  However, each of us is influenced by the people with whom we grow up and by our culture. Our parents sometimes teach us that our feelings for ourselves should be linked with our behaviors.
