A new study from UC Berkeley suggests that women who are in charge of household decisions, finances, and child-rearing have less interest in pursuing a high-powered career outside the home. Conversely, the study found that men who are in charge of domestic decision making do not change or defer their career goals and ambitions. The study also found that women who do not seek promotion at work often do not understand why they are making that choice. The study concluded that, in order to achieve equality in the work place, women must be willing to share authority at home.
