Are women worth less than men in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)? A recent study concluded that professors searching for a lab manager in one of the STEM fields is less likely to hire a woman than a man and more likely to offer a woman a lower salary. The study asked a group of professors to rate applicants for a lab manager position. The applications were identical except for the applicants’ names which were either obviously male or obviously female.
