If you’re feeling unappreciated by your spouse or partner, take a look at his or her sleep patterns. A new study from UC Berkeley contends that poor sleep habits make couples “too tired to say thanks.” Amie Gordon, a UC Berkeley psychologist and lead investigator of the study, claims that a lack of sleep may make us more selfish and keep us from prioritizing our partner’s needs over our own. Even if one partner sleeps well, both will probably be grouchy in the morning if the other person tossed and turned all night. Gordon suggests that one easy remedy is to say thanks when appropriate and show them how much you truly value them.
