A UC Berkeley study has found that high-powered people in authority positions bounce back from rejection quickly and seek out social bonding opportunities even after they have been rebuffed. If a high level manager is not invited to a social hour, he or she will seek out other, different ways of bonding with co-workers, such as, organizing a hike. However, the lower the employee is on the totem pole, the more likely that person is to be hurt and offended by the exclusion, according to the research. People in a subordinate role are apt to perceive themselves in a negative way if they are snubbed or rejected.
