Author Emma Straub recounts how she set deadlines for herself after she graduated from college for writing and publishing her first novel. Her efforts were rejected time and again by various publishers. But she persevered for eight years and was finally a published author when she was 30. She was no overnight sensation and identified with other artists and authors who have struggled to be recognized. But she never gave up her goals or her belief in herself.
