Therapy Of A Different Sort

What began as an information gathering project has become a four year experiment.  Once a month, six women meet at the home of Wendy Wilson, clinical social worker and psychoanalyst, to discuss their aging experiences.  The group, Vibrant Seniors, has members ranging in age from 75 to 88.  Coming from a generation that is extremely wary of anything that sounds like mental health treatment, the word therapy is not used.  The women discuss such topics as longevity, finances, family disputes and wisdom, subjects many of their friends don’t want to talk about.  Participation in the group has been shown to make the women happier and more self-confident.
